What is the most interesting thing about Edgar allan poe that grabbed ur attention?

While I was aware of and familiar with Poe's dark works ("The Cask of Amontillado" is my favorite) I didn't learn until recently that he has several comic works as well. "The Spectacles" [SPOILER ALERT] is an amusing farce about a man too proud to wear his gles, and ends up "marrying" his Grandmother because he can't see her well enough to realize that she is old. It ends happily with a real (and age-appropriate) marriage in true comic fashion. I think most people don't realize that he was a more balanced author than he is given credit for.
